Credit: ThisDay News

It is an election year in Nigeria and the clock is ticking speedily towards the D-Day. In the first round of election scheduled for the 16th of February 2019 will afford eligible voters to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice while also electing individuals that will represent their constituencies at the Senate.

Often female candidates who are in the minority do not enjoy enough media coverage to make them visible to the electorates. This year I decided to share this with my team members on the Women Radio programme XX-Files and we designed a thematic series tagged: “XX-Files Giving Visibility to Female Candidates in 2019 elections”. Each week we bring the stories of various female candidates to our audience who are also citizens of Nigeria getting ready to vote.

As part of my team and I’s effort to give visibility to women Aspirants and candidates, of the 2019 election in my great country Nigeria, here is a list of women vying for seats at the Senate. It was painstakingly drawn out from the 460-page document released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
